“I’ve been singing my whole life. I grew up performing in church. I learned how to play guitar when I was 14 and I wrote my first song that night. I (recently) released my debut album “So Much More”, an album written about my personal life and experiences.”
Who are your biggest influences? Have they changed over the years, or stayed consistent?
“I’ve liked and listened to a wide range of artists over the years, including Taylor Swift, Hayley Williams, Katy Perry, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood, Colbie Caillat and many more. They have all influenced my musical style in some way.”
How has living in Oregon shaped you both musically and personally?
“Growing up in Oregon was so great. It’s incredibly green and beautiful here and I have always been surrounded by people who love me and support my big dreams. I know that I’m lucky to have those kind of people in my life. I hope to make Oregon proud with my music!”
What’s been the best part of the positive feedback you’ve received on your covers of Demi Lovato’s ‘Heart Attack’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’?
“It’s fun to hear feedback on my covers. I’ve had people tell me that my versions are better than the originals, and while I don’t agree, it is a great compliment to get.”
Could you tell us about the experience you had last year in Hollywood as part of American Idol’s 11th Season?
“It was a crazy and exciting experience! It was incredible to hear all of the other talented singers who were there with me. I learned a lot from this cool experience, but (honestly) by the time it was over I was ready to take a nap!”
What are the most important qualities that you want listeners and fans to know about you?
“I want my fans to know that I care about them! There’s a lot of honesty in my songs. I write my songs about what I’ve been through (the good and the bad things) so that they can see that someone else has felt the same way that they do right now. I know that there are so many people who have gone through similar experiences and hardships that I have and I hope that they can turn my music on and find inspiration!”
“I’m planning on (playing) some concerts in the near future (my website has more information on dates) and I will be posting more videos on my Youtube channel as well!”
